달항아리는 하나의 완성된 형태이기보다, 만들어지는 과정 전체를 품고 있는 그릇이라 생각한다. 물레 위에서 손의 힘과 호흡, 그날의 미세한 감각에 따라 형태는 조금씩 달라진다. 이 과정에서 생기는 흔들림과 어긋남은 의도적으로 교정되지 않는다.

두 개의 발을 접합하는 전통적인 달항아리 구조는 완벽한 대칭이 아닌 언제나 차이를 만들어낸다. 나는 그 차이를 결함으로 보지 않고, 흙과 손이 만나는 지점에서 자연스럽게 드러난 결과로 받아들인다. 형태는 통제되기보다 조율되며, 균형을 맞추기보다 서서히 찾아간다.

유약의 흐름과 표면의 미세한 요철, 불의 작용 또한 작업의 일부이다. 의도와 우연이 겹쳐지며 만들어진 달항아리는 완결된 형상이라기보다 과정의 흔적에 가깝다. 나는 이 작업을 통해 달항아리가 지닌 조용한 불완전함과, 그 안에 머무는 시간의 감각을 드러내고자 한다.

I consider the moon jar not as a fixed, completed form, but as a vessel that contains the entirety of its making.On the wheel, the form subtly shifts according to the pressure of the hands, the rhythm of breathing, and the minute sensibilities of the moment. The tremors and misalignments that emerge in this process are not deliberately corrected.

The traditional structure of the moon jar, formed by joining two hemispherical halves, never results in perfect symmetry; it inevitably produces difference. I do not regard this difference as a flaw, but accept it as a natural outcome revealed at the point where clay and hand meet. The form is not controlled, but adjusted; balance is not imposed, but gradually found.

The flow of glaze, the fine irregularities of the surface, and the action of fire are also integral parts of the work. Shaped by the overlap of intention and chance, the moon jar becomes less a finished object than a trace of process. Through this work, I seek to reveal the quiet imperfection inherent in the moon jar, and the sense of time that resides within it.
